Hello world! Today we'll be talking about nintendo's creative commercials, those about games, jokes and how nintendo is skilled with them! and how the DS was never -only- addressed to kids.
First, lets start with the DS Phat, yes people, the first DS using the slogan: Nintendo DS "Touch Me" in USA and "Touching is Good" in some other regions, lets talk about the most popular commercial on the first dual screen portable gaming system, starting off with some images as the main intro, made in 2004:
The commercial is completely addressed to the teenage costumers, taking as scenario: the daily life of the younger population. Nintendo basically shows in a fun creative way how could we change and joke with our daily routine if everything was simply.."touchable", of course, packing all that "fun" inside the DS device, featuring the game "Metroid Prime Hunters".
Now lets jump in 5 years, very after the DS Lite release and when the DS phat production line didn't exist anymore, since it was discontinued shortly after the DS lite release.
Again, curiously ...nothing about kids on this commercial makes me wonder how nintendo has all these young costumers? Well... What we can see here is the main new feature on the DSi system, the cameras. The first dedicated portable gaming device to have an inner and out facing cameras, with a little -touch- of Nintendo we can play around with images, -touching-, modifying, de-coloring and (coloring and much more)
- "You are so ugly i don't have to do anything." - "Uhm, yeah..you are so ugly your mom, didn't really ever loved you, ever."
Now, 2011: Nintendo 3DS, releasing in 12 days in USA (and 10 for europe), the brand-new portable got its first commercial sent over internet today.
The big challenge this time is "explain" how 3D the device is, nintendo said it was a challenge because...if you put 3D commercials in 3D theaters, you wear glasses...what would make the less informed people wonder if the device has a "fake" glasses-free 3D, Nintendo showed in E3 a funny kind of commercial, a good choice for casual gamers and younger public...but how about the core players? Once again, a little -touch- of nintendo, and the magic is done!
featuring: Steel Diver, Super Street Fighter IV and AR games
This time the fun is the new 3D wide-screen the commercial mainly focus on showing "inside" games, now the experience is looking at the -real-, alongside with touching and "playing with the real world", with the cameras, how awesome will that feel? I wonder what comes next...
