Be warned: this conference was quite amazing, reveals galore.
Nintendo revealed very many things at their E3 press conference.
The Legend of Zelda News To start off, Nintendo had an orchestra playing as they showed off some stuff about the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, which will be released during the holiday season this year. They also spoke of several promotional activities because of the 25th anniversary of the Legend of Zelda. These include orchestrated concerts in every region beginning this fall. They then went on to reveal that The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening will be available for download on the eShop worldwide today. Late in the show, we were told that DSi owners will be treated to a free download of the Legend of Zelda Four Swords Adventures, a re-release of the of the 4 player Zelda game.
3DS Updates
A good deal of 3DS info was revealed during the conference. Super Mario was shown to have a mix of classic 2D Mario gameplay and 3D Mario gameplay never before done. The levels shown were played at a much slower pace. The Tanuki suit was shown to have been included, which was hinted at by the shadow in the logo.
StarFox 3DS was shown briefly as well, with impressive visuals and gyroscope support. It also has a facetime feature when playing with other people online.
Mario Kart 3DS was shown to have quite the new addition to the series: hang-gliding. When your character makes a jump, you can activate the hang glider to reach distant coins and such. Another huge addition is that there is now the ability to customize the karts to some extent. It was shown that you can change the vehicle's wheel size, hang glider and such.
Afterwards, Kid Icarus info and videos were released. A big reveal was that Kid Icarus will feature up to 3 vs. 3 online multiplayer. It also let's you battle using new AR cards.
Another long awaited game was shown too: Luigi's Mansion 2! This is an entirely new Luigi's Mansion game, and will feature not one new Mansion...but SEVERAL! There also appear to be several new ghost types, including mummies.
The biggest piece of information was definitely Super Smash Bros. Nothing in the way of visuals was shown, but there was a huge reveal: iterations of the Super Smash Bros. series will be coming to BOTH the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo's next home console, the Wii U (more on that in Part 2). The two games will be interactive in an unspecified way.
