I'm writing this blog because I've seen so many people who claim to know so much about animal cruelty. My question is...how much do you really know? Do you know what the victims of this horrible problem actually goes through? The lucky survivors that happen to be rescued? Do you know the pain & the torment that they will remember for a lifetime? Dogs alone are proven to live in the moment. Meaning, that they don't plan ahead, they don't remember what you punished them for say, yesterday. BUT, victims of animal cruelty, they DO remember that horrible pain they went through at the hands of the people who were supposed to love & care for them. They do remember wondering what they did wrong to deserve such horrid treatment. Here are some facts & statistics surrounding animal cruelty, but beware, some of the facts & images following, might be a bit hard to stomach, no matter how true it is.

-Roughly 3,000,000-4,000,000 dogs & cats, every year must be euthanized (humanly killed). Many of these dogs & cats are young, healthy, & adoptable. The person who hates this statistic most is the unfortunate person who is forced to hold that needle that ultimately kills that dog or cat. But, the only other option for these animals is to be housed in a "no-kill" shelter where they are confined to cages for weeks, months, or even YEARS on end, where the animal could suffer a fate that is far more worse. Many of these animals literally go insane from the loneliness & the constant confinement. Many more animals that are unwanted are abandoned & left to suffer & even die on the streets or left to weaken in a backyard, without any human contact or any exercise, & in many cases, without even basic needs such as food, water, shelter,& health care.
-You all know of course that the testing of cosmetics (make-up), household products, & other consumer products are done on animals. BUT did you know that every year more then 100,000 animals are blinded, poisoned, & even KILLED by corporations testing products. Mice & rats: they're forced to inhale (breath) poisonous fumes. Dogs: they're force-fed pesticides, & Rabbits: they have corrosive chemicals rubbed on their skin & into their eyes. Most of these test are not required by the law & many times they produce results that are not accurate & can be misleading.
-About 10,000 bulls die in bullfights EVERY YEAR.
-Scientist have estimated that every year, 100 species go extinct. That breaks down to 1 species every 15 minutes.
-It's estimated that, in 2009, 76,001 animals were subjected to pain, without pain relief, for the purpose of testing different consumer products. This does not include mice & rats.
-It's estimated that, in 2009, 100,000,000 mice & rats were subjected to pain, without pain relief, for the purpose of testing different consumer products.
-Mother Pigs (SOWS) spend most of their lives in crates called "Gestation Crates", these crates are so small, there is not even enough room for the animal to turn around.
-70% of people who've been convicted of Animal Abuse have been convicted of other crimes as well.
-Before a pig is killed for meat, they receive a bath in scalding-hot water to soften their skin & remove the hair. Most of the time, these pigs are still alive when they are submerged in these waters, which, as already stated, are SCALDING-HOT.
-Circus elephants are often kept on chains for as long as 23 hours a day, from the time they babies until they no longer perform, or until they die.
-Millions of seals are killed every year, simply for fashion.
-MILLIONS of baby chicks, only 24 hours old, are killed every year, because they are worthless to the egg industry. How are they killed? A high-speed grinder, which is called a "macerator".
-Every year, dogs suffer & even die, when their owners leave them in a hot car, while they run an errand for "just a moment" On a day that is 78 degrees F, the temperature inside a shaded car is 90 degrees F. BUT, the inside of a car parked in the sun can rise up to 160 degrees F in mere minutes.
-Neglect & abandonment are the most common form of animal abuse in the United States.
-For every fox-fur coat made, 18 red foxes are killed. For every mink-coat made, 55 minks are killed.
