Uranus and the Globbles.
The following entries are just the best of thousands of journal entries made b a scientist that will surely be in your next history textbook. This book is titled McGraw Hill 2082 History Book. This book will have a whole chapter that will talk of this scientist and will provide a website that contains all the journal entries and notes she made on Uranus along with pictures of the aliens and how the scientist survived all those years.
May 18, 2013. The Takeoff.
I was chosen to be “The Experiment.” It was because I was academically smart and had all the things they were looking for. I went into harsh training to be an astronaut and scientist to take journal entries about a peculiar sighting and sound. At an observatory, a sighting of a purple blob moving around was seen. The NASA people got involved after that. Houston took control after Florida’s people heard an odd donkey bray from Uranus, the blue planet whose north pole points towards the sun. Houston sent a satellite to Uranus at 300 million miles per hour. It arrived 2 ½ hours later. It took pictures of living organisms and the photos we received were like those of science fiction stories and SYFY movies. The pictures came back with a purple blob with hundreds of fangs and sharp claws like daggers. Its big eyes were red with anger. We soon lost connection with the satellite. I am sent out for a test to retrieve the satellite and if broken, attempt to repair it. I am now 16 years old and will be the youngest human in the history of Earth to go into space. I will also be the first person to go on another planet. I must go and get on the spaceship now.
May 21, 2013. The Satellite.
I have slept for one and one half days. With the new technology I safely made it to Uranus in 2 ½ hours. The speed was a mind-boggling 300 million miles. It makes you lightheaded and the spacecraft had a machine that kept me alive. The problem was, its energy source was my energy. I ate and slept like never before. I am getting ready to go and retrieve the satellite. It is crushed and it looks like some pieces are missing. I will need a suit to protect me from the cold temperature and from the gases of Uranus, which is mainly composed of hydrogen, helium, methane, and ethane gases. The slightly acidic atmosphere is another problem I had to face. With all these gases, it was poisonous for humans to breathe this air. There was not enough oxygen for even a child. There is no humidity on Uranus for 2 reasons. 1. There is not enough H2O to evaporate. 2. It is not hot enough for H2O to evaporate. The atmosphere is dark and dry so I did not look forward to camping out on the planet for a week; not to mention that the average temp. of Uranus is –200 degrees Celsius or –328 degrees Fahrenheit. The reason for this was that the closest Uranus gets to the sun is 2.7 billion kilometers away and the farthest away is 3 billion kilometers away. That is because it is the 7th planet in our solar system.
I expected the damage to the satellite would be from the odd gravity of Uranus. Although the mass of Uranus is 14 x more than that of Earth, it’s gravitational pull was only 91% of Earth’s gravitational pull.I went to look at the satellite and it was scratched to pieces! I stared and saw that there were multiple bite marks. I looked closer at them and saw that they were hundreds of bite marks the size of needles. I repaired most of it and right about the time I was going to give up on the complicated electrical problems, I heard a weird soft, low braying noise and then an odd growl and what was unmistakably a hissing noise. At that I went back with the jetpack I had. The whole journey has tired me and I have seen movement off in the distance above the ground of Uranus. I will sleep and go out armed to adventure around the frozen lake of Uranus found on the bottom of it. It is highly dangerous because of the odd happenings and the hundreds of degrees below freezing. Wish me luck!
May 23, 2013. The Meeting of the Globbles.
When I went out onto Uranus perfectly armed, I planned to go to the frozen lake and take various samples that none of the robots were able to. I walked across the rough, blue terrain of the frozen planet. The planet is composed of frozen gases and various rocks. I had no land rover because recent satellites passing under Uranus have mysteriously disappeared and it is thought to have magnetic abilities. The weapons I carried were carefully crafted so that they would invincible to magnetic pulls. I would be here on Uranus for about a Uranus year so I was in no rush to finish my studies. I was guided off track from an odd sound sort of like a giggle. Soon a purplish blob confronted me. It bowed and talked and odd language.
“Gobbler globule bleep?” one of the adorable little blobs came up to me and tapped my knee. That was as far as it could reach with it’s wing and that means something. I was so small, this thing couldn’t be mch taller than 2 feet. I had to press my chin to my chest to look it in the eye. I looked away quickly thinking eye contact may be a threat display to them.
What did you say? I asked. The blob gave a surprised look at me and the other blobs gasped. I wondered if I did something wrong.
“You are an Earthman? I am Ghastly Joker, the queen of Globbles. Tall one, what is your name?” said the odd blob that stood at my feet.
I laughed; I couldn’t help it. I was short and nobody called me tall. “Sorry but for a human my age, I’m short; my name’s Sarah. By the way, I’m a girl; not a man. Do you mind if I give you a nickname?
Ghastly gave an excited grin. “That would be an honor.” She said. I told her I would have to think about a nickname for a day or so. I wondered how one of these would be thought to be the thing that attacked our satellite. They were nice and they reminded me of stuffed animals. When I took out water to make spaghetti, Ghastly gasped. “Ooh! Is that yummy?” she picked out a noodle.
“Oh spaghetti? Yeah I like it. You want to try it?” she looked at me happily before opening her mouth to show hundreds of tiny teeth. I tried not to show any signs of surprise. I knew they attacked the satellite, but why, I still did not know. “I know your nickname!” I blurted out halfway through my meal. Ghastly gave an expectant smile with 1,000 teeth showing. Still, her eyes twinkled; she urged me to tell her her nickname as a aging ceremony. It was, after all the day she turned the Uranian months old. She also obtained a husband called Dingy Joker. “As a marriage present I give these two Globbles new nicknames. Ghastly’s nickname is Noodle and Dingy’s nickname is Stinky.” The crowd brayed with joy while the males hissed with approval. Noodle dug a hole for me to sleep in. I had to keep a mask on to protect myself from the frozen gases that would evaporate from my body heat. I soon nodded off to sleep.
June 1, 2013. The Invader.
I awoke to the sound of hissing, braying, squealing and screaming. But an odd sound erupted above all the others. It was like a roar of anger from a grizzly and a shriek of surprise from a bird that nearly got hit by an arrow. I crawled out of my hole to see two aliens from another planet. This was obviously my friend’’s research she would have started only 1 day after mine. Hers seemed to be coming along nicely because there was an 8 foot tall purple and blue furry winged alien right in front of me. My solid steel detector made me conclude it’s bones were made of nonthing other than solid srteel. It called again its battle cry and I caught a glimpse of sharp teeth. Chills ran down my back as it looked at me. When it saw that I got along with these creatures it glared at me and ran at me. The first thought that ran through my mind was “Why does it not fly?” but then another, more important thought ran through my mind. “Is that Noodle screaming with pain?” that is when I snapped out of it. Little Noodle burned half her blubber that protected her from the cold and injury so her legs could be used. She leaped in front of me to save me from the deadly fangs of the foreign alien. Sacrifice; for a foreign Earthian. Wow.
Then, Stinky and all other males that were not married flew towards the creature and lured it towards the lake. They knew of the magnetic power that part of the planet had and they knew the bones were made of solid steel and they got him caught in the magnet lake. They used their dagger like claws and injected fatal poison into Kayla’s alien who cried out in clear English “Run!” and looked back before falling to the ground. I held dear Noodle and saw another run away clutching an infant. “Why did it not fly?” I asked myself. I noticed it’s blue and purple fur made it blend in perfectly into Uranus terrain. I left Ghastly with Dingy and raced after it.
“Wait! Kayla’s alien! Wait up!” the alien looked at me and put down its child.
“What do you want?” she asked. I did not answer but I gave her a paper that would tell Kayla all about the accident and state my apologies. She gave an understanding nod before grabbing her baby and jumping into a machine heading homewards.
June 5, 2013. Stinky’s Cry for Help.
When I returned, Stinky looked at me and fought all urges to attack. Male Globbles were known to be aggressive and highly territorial. Males are the only Globbles allowed to attack. Females were not even taught anything about combat and a young female Globble playing war would be punished along with whoever she was playing with. I walked up to Dingy. “Please, make her better. She listens to you well. He nodded to Noodle.
I walked up to her and she said “Please sit, Sarah, and listen to our ways of life.” She knew I already concluded most of the stuff I needed for my research but she went into more detail than I could imagine. “We have floppy ears and big soft eyes to make us look innocent and weak to lure in our prey and predators so we can survive better. The males fight with deadly claws good for digging and slicing. Our teeth are sharper than our claws and we have about 1,000 teeth in our mouth. There are dozens of poisons that kill all aliens that we have ever encountered. All we have to do is bite them once and all Globbles produce a deadly poison for that species so the next time one of them is bitten, they will not survive. Our poisons do the job almost instantly. When first born, our parents force feed us all the different types of ices so it coats our special lungs to make the atmosphere breathable. The gravity does not harm us at all but it does make it hard for us to take off. Every time we fly, we burn some fat to make energy for the takeoff and we use our muscular wings to keep us going. We also scoot to save energy and dig on the coldest days to travel. Our blubber keep us warm and we dig into spots where our planet holds heat well so our body heat warms up that pocket of air. We eat old fossils from long ago when Uranus was located where Earth is today and Uranus was full of species like ones Earth has today. There are also some microorganisms that our young eat and some small plants that have somehow found a way to survive on some of the moons that we visit when we cannot find fossils. When Uranus was like Earth, we were defenseless besides our claws so we dug and came out at night to bask in the light from the 27 moons. She then slipped into a coma.
July 29, 2014. Catching Up.
Although I have not been keeping up with my journal well, I have been taking notes. It has been 2 weeks since my last entry. I have sad news. Dingy Joker a.k.a. Stinky has passed away. At age 30 in Uranian years, which is 3,000, Earth years. This is a normal Globble age of death. Noodle was devastated. Their first child wasn’t even born. When he was born though, he was a marvelous prince. Soon, Ghastly Joker changed to Ghastly Words and King Torn Words sat on his perch. It was only known that queens remarried. Yesterday, Prince Foggy Torn was married and Princess Heavenly Torn was flying through the crowd trying to get home after the wedding. But, worse things were still to come.
December 27, 2081. The Fatal Goodbye.
Today I became 1 year old in Uranian years. Sadly, I was 1,000 human years old. I had technology and HearGer12 pills to thank for allowing me to live this long. It was a pill that kept everything inside me young. I only looked 17 even though I was 1,000 years old, but that’s not the point. The point is I’m leaving. I am as close to Earth as I will ever get for another 1,000 years. I can’t stay another day longer and I have to leave by Earth’s sundown. Right when I was about to leave, a 10 foot tall alien jumped off of one of Neptune’s new moons. It was muscle, muscle, and more muscle. It saw me and had a look of revenge on its face. And of course it knew English. “You! You are one of them!” he threw a picture of someone I used to know. Someone I made friends with at my dad’s house in Florida.
“Oh no. “ I said. “Florida got involved in this alien stuff and messed up.” I of course ran. And ran. And fell. Yeah I was living one of those cheesy horror movies where someone runs from a monster and falls and dies. But, there was a twist in my horror movie. Death was in it but… not yet.
“Nooooo!” Ghastly saved me again. Only thing was, this alien had poison in it’s claws. She got scratched from her left ear to her right claw. The poison was not strong but it would work and there was no cure.
“Sarah, can you do one last favor?” Noodle asked.
“Of Course I can! What is it Noodle?”
“Go home and NEVER return.” I made a horrified face. She glared at me, warning me I better listen. Even though she was an alien, she filled in as my mother. “And…” she sighed. She was about to say something heartbreaking. “And take my child Cash Torn. Now; take him and run and never return.” Then, she died.
Conclusion.
After that, I never even thought of going back to Uranus. When I told the NASA people about the invasion of hundreds of 10 foot tall aliens, they never thought of even sending a satellite. To this day, nobody knows if the hundreds of 10 ft. tall aliens won the battle or if the thousands of 2 ft. tall aliens won. I don’t think I even want to know. If neither side won, I will send Cash back and repopulate. I grabbed a random child named Monkey Major so that the species could continue.
