U.S. Bomb being dismantled

I'm glad its dissharmed. it shows that the United States of America isnt so on the edge and nervous about war, they seem more relaxed and more at ease with the world by doing this.

One less bomb/nuclear bomb doesn't make a difference no matter how powerful it was. We got so many being made as of this moment and who knows how many bombs are in existence already and not used.

China wont take any action against us anyway, considering they're more so a alli of the U.S. It been a un-reasonable/risky decision to bomb a country that you're allies with.
Such casualties as it just blowing up on it's own or from a malfunction isn't likely, people said that about nuclear power plants that they're too dangerous and can cause unwanted problems. Yet there's so many, their useful, and their kept regulated so they're safe.

People must remember that nuclear weapons buildup occurred in a different era, when circumstances were much different than they are now. Once one superpower begins to build more powerful weapon, the other couldn't simply sit by and allow themselves to be surpassed and endangered by an ever more powerful foe.
It's very easy to criticize past actions. For example, you can get up in arms about Hiroshima/Nagasaki, but the alternative was to send our military over there themselves and lose possibly thousand more, from both sides. It basically came down to ours vs. there's, and in war the answer is obvious.

I find it depressing that our kind seeks ever more imaginative means of self destruction...

Even without this one nuke, we can still obliterate the world several times over. China doesn't have nearly enough firepower to scare the U.S. North Korea's nukes don't reach far enough to hit the U.S., and they wouldn't launch a nuke unless they want North Korea to be a smoldering, radioactive pile of dust.

Anyways, less nukes is better. Ever heard of the Cold War? How would you feel if there was a high chance that you could be obliterated at any second?

And to those of you who're saying that this makes us look weak, it's really an attempt at good press. Obama wants America to look less like an ass, so he takes apart one nuke, and hides the other 5000 in submarines, missile silos, and mountains, where we can melt the brains out of anybody who points one at us.

I remember watching a film called 'War Games'. An uber computer thinks it's at war so it alerts a nuclear missile silo. They think Russia is going to obliterate the US so naturally they retaliate. When they abort the launch the computer fires missiles anyway.

Then they ask it to play tic-tac-toe against itself but no matter what it does it always ties. It then realises there is no winners in nuclear war and that the best move is to do nothing.

Also, who in the right mind would attack us? You can't nuke terrorists. We haven't been attacked by anyone but terrorists since the 1940s.

I think some of you are overreacting to the situation. If we really have 5000+ bombs, losing one is not that big of a deal. Personally, I think that disarming the nuke is a smart idea. Lets not forget that part of the reason we went into war with Iraq was that Sadam Hussein publicly announced that he had a 'weapon of mass destruction'. By having An insanely powerful bomb, we are basicly saying 'Look at our new toy! It can obliterate your country to nothing!' [Exaggeration] Other nations might take it as a challenge and attack us. That might have been what Obama was thinking there.

Yes, I agree. Nukes are the nails on our coffin. We hope we never need to use them, but as long as we have them, there's a chance that we will.

Don't be so sure about that....

Think about it. One powerful bomb gets disarmed, while 5000+ OTHER, close to just as powerful, bombs are safely tucked away, ready when needed. We won't miss that ONE bomb.
