The national debt..our downfall?

So everyone's aware that every ticking second of every day, our country plunges deeper into debt.How can this problem be avoided? Is it too late?
I believe that it will in fact be too late unless the government gets their head out of..were the sun doesn't shine, if we hope to ever recover from this.First things first, we absolutely HAVE to do something about everything we import.

exactly, useless spending is always happening, like giving big bonuses to government officials, and building a huge park in the middle of the projects. Instead of taking funding away from things that matter, like schools

The problem is that our debt is equal to about 95% of our GDP. If you don't understand that, the basically that means that our debt is equal to roughly 95% of the revenue generated by the US annually. Something that high isn't going to be going down easily, if at all. /cynical

It's my job to help the next generation, and set a good example for them. And for that I'll gladly lay down my life.

The government doesn't sign Lady GaGa's paycheck. And if we ran on only American goods, we'd screw up the global economy and cause another World War. Isolationism caused WWI, and generally is a stupid plan.
