Groups V.S. Chatrooms

I like both.

In the Chats, people respond quicker a lot, and you have some features the Groups don't.

In the groups, you can use BB Codes, and there's a smaller chance of getting banned.

I like both, but I'll use chats more, when they're active.

Have all groups viewable and the ones that get posted in be refreshed ontop of a list for group admins to see. That should help tone the problem down of people using the groups for other means that are generally disallowed by the site rules. Still never did notice that groups was used that much.

What if there was a single big shoutbox that connected from every other group, so you could see all shouts as they were posted, and it would look just like a regular shoutbox.

But the shouts wouldn't just say your username, but also which group it was posted from. And only groupmins could see it like this.

It would be crazy.. cool.

General chat: I hardly ever go in these because I tend to disagree with a lot of people there.

Event chat: Hardly gets used.

Roleplaying chat: I love going in these rooms and roleplaying with friends, but sometimes random people wanting to join gets annoying.

Languaged chat: I think the last time I've seen anyone in those was in Feb. or March. These rooms are kinda pointless to me.

Group shout: Most of these are just random people shouting about stupid stuff, but I enjoy the shoutbox in my group R.T.W.O.R.P.A.A.T. because my friends and I can roleplay there without random people butting in and taking over the RP.

Chatrooms, although I'm not in any groups besides mine (the I <3 animals group). So I don't really use groups.

There are only 10 types of people in the world, those who know binary and those who don't.

I jusy joined some new groups so now, I have no idea.

I like groups because I can chat with my friends and stuff, but I like chatrooms because I can make new friends!

So, I kinda like them both equally...

What FancyPants is trying to say is that they aren't full of people cybering.
They're might be one or two people cybering per several various groups, most people use groups to chat with their friends without interruption, and to find new friends with the same interests.

Groups started out as a way for a selected group of people to share information. Within a few years' time came the realisation of groups' potential, which led to extending the shout capacity and adding the shoutbox refresh button. The latter especially spiked group activity, and now they are pretty much "guilt-free" chat areas. While it drew crowds away from the real chatrooms, in theory it makes the presence of group admins important and in a way spoils the meaningfulness of a chat mod. There is no way chatrooms regain their former popularity without some huge overhaul (unthinkable!).
