Groups V.S. Chatrooms

Groups started out as a way for a selected group of people to share information. Within a few years' time came the realisation of groups' potential, which led to extending the shout capacity and adding the shoutbox refresh button. The latter especially spiked group activity, and now they are pretty much "guilt-free" chat areas. Um... no. Groups really don't have a specific meaning. They're just groups. You can use groups yourself for RPing, but you can't make the claim that the main use for having groups was primarily for role-playing.[/quote] Yep,groups are bbasically a way ti have a miniature chatroom as it were, within the group.

I would argue that the biggest chatroom-killer is the fact that group shoutboxes refresh automatically. There's no turning back once shoutboxes effectively become chatrooms 2.0. [Regarding above posts: no one made the claim that roleplaying is groups' main purpose.]

No. There are too many unused groups. Most have only one member or something. The unused groups would be shown too. And plus, there are thousands of groups I bet. It would probably make the browser too slow or it would never load.
