In my opinion, that read as a classic vague public relations excuse. It makes little sense why the hosting company cannot afford better or more servers to account for high usage, and it has nothing to do with the larger file sizes. The publishers are trying to spread out the release dates so activity vallies in between. If there were problems after the Japan release, it would be stupid not to assume similar problems for North America and Europe, huge markets. My guess is that the app and the online service are not running smoothly together in the midst of high usage, causing lag while viewing and uploading flipnotes. Being an eShop app, likely downloading is slow and stability is poor. I believe the developers rushed it because of all the public clamour, and now the publishers have to maintain a straight face. The whole debacle stinks of irresponsibility.

I just remembered the Global Link launch (http://3dspaint.com/memberblog.php?blog=35706). The same thing happened, delaying the online service release due to expecting a huge amount of traffic.

I think it's better for their rep if they fix it up before the public release than releasing it and having an awful experience akin to SimCity.

On the UK site there's a list of upcoming games, from soonest to latest. Flipnote 3D is between an October 25th game and November 1st. Is this a sign?

Along with Swapnote SpotPass, the Flipnote Gallery: Friends service has been suspended indefinitely. Removal of aforementioned image sharing was mainly due to users using the apps to sext back and forth, among other misuses. No word on if or when these services ever return, but we can be assured this is no measure of confidence for Flipnote's NA/EU release.

With Swapnote being shut down, it is possible we will never get Flipnote Studio 3D. Thank you to the idiots who killed it for everyone. -_-

That was presumably because it depicted use of the currently suspended Friends feature, the preview taken down so as not to mislead. Nonetheless, they put it back on the Future Releases section two weeks later, so obviously they prefer at worst the former over further worrying anxious fans.

Flipnote Studio 3D is the free app. Flipnote Gallery: World is the paid service. Flipnote Gallery: Friends is the free service. For all intents and purposes, both services collectively replace Flipnote Hatena, but they're not as extensive.

Very true. Just about the only sliver of hope I have for Friends returning is the high likelihood that the alleged Swapnote incidents were far, far worse. Were it to come back, it would be on a very short leash.

I started out thinking, "These people must have been disappointed", but as I moved on I got more and more excited about how the mood would shift between when everyone thought it was going to happen to where we are now.

I kept thinking, "Oh my gosh, oh my gosh! I can't wait to see how this went down!", hoping people reacted in just the worst way possible.<3
