well i login daily to check if there new blog post and polls.What if more content was only viewable to logged in users? Might that get site activity up a little?

That's a very artificial way of driving new users to join. *cough*Quora*cough*Good reasoning. Though I would argue that we have those one-time users as it is. Roughly 7 out of 10 legitimate new members never log back in, 2 of 10 will only check back a handful of times then quit, and 1 of 10 might actually be a keeper. They don't come back because they literally tried one or several things on the site and either were underwhelmed or confused.
You'd get a lot of one-use signups, ie. users signing up to look at the site once.
Also, on the affiliate links page, one of the terms for submitting a site is that content must be visible without logging in. It would be quite hypocritical to go against that ourselves.
