How to make an ACTUAL chatroom

There are other sites out there that have much better chatrooms, and this is what mustt be done to be better than them:

• Shorter bans. A new user that originally was from a PC chatsite would be pissed at the long 24 hour bans. Normally, a 5, 10, or 15 minute insta ban [that's what some sites call a kick] is issued for cursing & spaming the first time [see "Bots"], trolling, and raging. 24 hour bans should only be used for posting links to pornographic content, sites involving illegal activity [like romulation or piratebay], a second attempt at spamming [see "Bots"] and password scammers. The shorter bans are used to discourage bad activity, unlike 24 hr bans which drive new users completely away.
• Bots. Bots are what you call "automated admins". Instead of having admins on all the time, bots would do the job. OH NOEZ SPAMMER; if the bot detects a rapid amount of posts from the same user the spammer would be sentenced to a 15 minute timeout. If it happens again with a 24hr period, they'll be gone for 24 hrs. OH NOEZ POTTY MOUTH; the first time a guy curses, the bot will give out a personal alert to bad mouth: "- Watch it [member] -". The second time the guy gets a 15 minute instaban from the bot. [It won't apply if it has been 15 minutes since the guy first cursed.] Third, 30. Fourth, 445. The more he curses within 24 hrs of the second offense, the more bans he will recieve. The bots will replace many chatmins and the only ones that might be left are the ones holding the terminator jobs [bots will not permaban, leave it to humans] [see "Reporting"] as well as a select few so they can ban for more serious offenses] [yes i know some guys who are on 24/7]. Only 10 chatmins may be left. Bots will further improve the enforcement of the rules and make this a safer place to chat. You still think 10 chatmins is small? What if everyone could help out? Thats why we need
• Reporting. If you have ever played a game created by Jagex [i.e. Runescape]...

...you'll know that at any time you can click the report button at the bottom of the game window to report a player for many different offenses. DSiCade also does this. SDK needs the "/report" command. It would work like "/report [user]/[reason]. This is much like "/ban", except that it suggests one to ban a user for bad activity rather than being banned on the spot. A report on the bad user would be sent to all and only terminators in a special inbox called the "Report Inbox". [very creative] The syntax for each report would be:

Title: Report on [bad user]
Body: [bad user] was reported for: "[reason]". Report sent by [reporter's username].

[three buttons would appear below the message: "Decline" "Ban {for 24 hrs} "Permaban"]

It can be forwarded to any member, and replying would send a message to the reporter. If the terminator gets several reports on a bad user from many DIFFERENT users, a ban or permaban may be issued. To prevent report spam, a report from a user can only be sent once every five minutes, and a second report on the same user may not be sent until the bad user's account is banned and then unbanned. Reports will be very useful for catching alts, as terminators may not be able to spot them fast. Also, there would be no more. "ban tat guy hes an alt do it do it" or "don't banz himz!!! hes not alt [in that case they don't have to send a report] or "BAN HIM HE'S ALT OF LINK OF HYRULE" [lol] Reports sent with the reason covering profanity will not be tolerated, and the sender can be banned for it as well. Reports makes everyone a mod, which may actually mean the banishment ofcombining the terminator and chatmin jobs. However, anyone willing to be a terminator will have to face much more work. To help out these guys they should be given epic perks, which you people should suggest here. Maybe people will be discouraged for asking to be admin, and realize that the job requires a lot of time investment, and will...

...require more precious time on SDK. Any terminators that have that time should honestly get payed, yes, PAYED for the incredible work. Plus, any current terminators who don't have that much time should have there terminator job dropped and should say so in this thread. [i know that Electric and Lord Zeus are contenders for this, however, laws in the U.S. would not let Zeus or Eletricwork since he is only twelve. Contenders really should be 18 or older] [i would be a contender if i wasn't so youthful and bad] If a terminator is hired and is found out not to have this capability of staying up all night, he would be fired and permabanned from the site. [You want money, then WORK FOR IT.] Sites that have paid chatmins have better chatrooms. They take their job very seriously, and they love it.

Yes, false reporting is too easy. Perhaps there could be some way to send a "screenshot" of the offensive chatroom activity with the report command.

You have some good ideas. The one I like the most is paying admins for their hard work. Currently, the site breaks about $20/month after expenses, so that is not really possible, but if revenue grows with popularity, I would like to help out the admins who help me.

Updating chatrooms is on my priority list, but I am a one-man show, so it will take a while. I plan on getting the rest of DSiPaint Spriter done this week. There are still some things to do to be sure all of HB Online is working, again. I also have to get email alerts working in TWiiter. Don't forget work on TMJ, Web hosting features, and other upcoming apps.

One day, the chatrooms will get some automation with bots to alleviate workloads on admins. I've been hesitant with reporting since that can lead to members ganging up on each other. I do have admin inboxes planned for sort of a tech support thing, and ban alerts can go there.

Report buttons will cause more problems than they're worth. A screenshot shown to a Chat Moderator is all that is necessary. But the anti-spam bot would be pquite effective.
