It wasn't added to U.S. currency, and it's clearly a violation of separation of church and state.
So why do we keep it on our currency?
Not everyone believes in a god...
Well, Columbus asked the King and Queen of Spain if he can borrow the 3 ships and some supplies, right? And all the Queen and King wanted back was some land, and treasures if he found any (Which he did). He found the south part of America while he was blown off to the west, and blah blah yaddah yaddah.
All I'm saying is that Spain were the second founders of America, and they were very religious. Which meant the people were also religious...And led to the In God We Trust thing, I guess. But that was a long time before they came up with Presidency and how trading was hard etc.
In God we trust.
Remove that from the US Dollar, and the government will have a hard time removing my fist from their faces.
It was put on the dollar for a reason. And it will stay on that dollar.
If you don't believe in God, that's ok. But that doesn't mean that you are special and you need special treatment because everything offends you. And the world certainly doesn't revolve around you. If the word God offends you, DEAL WITH IT LIKE EVERYBODY ELSE!
Trust me, lots of words offend me. Unless it's a personal insult, I don't complain about it all day. I mean, really? I respect other people's beliefs. If you are an atheist and don't believe in God, I'm fine with that. Doesn't bother me one bit. But what makes me mad is when they think they are offended by God, and need to become the "heroes" and try to blast the word out of existence, like they make the rules.
Allah, Budda, God, Science of Nature....
Same person, different names.
I know my apprehensions might never be allayed. And so I close, realizing that perhaps the ending has not yet been written...
1. Usa isn't a Christian nation. And not all of the founding fathers were Christian.. some were deist, etc.
2. @commander. I don't understand why people who want it off the dollar have to “deal with it” yet you're making it sound like a really big deal and how important it is. If it doesn't matter then why does it seem matter to you?
3. It doesn't really bother me that much though because.. 1. I am Canadian. 2. It's not hypnotizing me to become religious, it's just some words. 3. It's not a big part of your life! do you sit there and stare at your money all day angrily? I mean really, why don't you fight for something a bit more important.
Study American history before you post on this thread again.
"In God we trust" is very important to me. It needs to stay on.
I see Muslims do their praying every day like they're suppose to. I have no problem at all about. Muslim children get to pray during school in America, but we are not allowed to bring a bible.
I have no problem carrying on with their religion, but when they sit there and complain about Jesus and God, (which by the way, we are not even allowed to say anything about Mohammed or Allah), that's when I start to not like them.
USA was founded by christains, and is a Christian nation, whether you want it to be or not. IN GOD WE TRUST was put on that dollar for a reason, because it is true. And it will stay there, or so help me God, you will be seeing me on national television.
