Earlier today, I picked up the viola to widen my horizons. Previously, I played clarinet, but I never really practiced or even enjoyed it too much. The viola seems like much more fun though, even in my first day. I know that everything seems fun the first time you try it, but I'm keeping my hopes up.
So do you play an instrument? If you do, do you enjoy it?
I... I'm not deep, or funny, or anything. I'm not even a good gamer. I HAVE NEVER PLAYED A LOZ GAME. I'm pretty plain.
I'm sure I could write an entire blog about this, but sometimes it's good to be semi-brief. I remember first picking up my first instruments, the trumpet and the alto sax. My abilities never really took off with them, but I eventually settled with the clarinet which was supposedly better-suited to my capacities. At first, I was terrible, behind in lessons, and the poorest player a year behind. Something must have picked up the following year, be it for my family or my teachers I have no idea, but something clicked. I have played winds now for nearly nine years, and I find that at such a level of experience, there is still so much to learn in the way of musical quality, sublety, and, to be quite honest, seeking perfection in multiple ensemble-types. Recently, I've been trying out acoustic guitar, and to be honest, it's difficult; winds to strings is quite a transition. That and the piano/keyboard are the two instruments I must master before I die. Hopefully, proficiency comes before then.
So yes, I do find the process and the product very rewarding. Everyone should give music a try at least once. It's a great tool for self-discipline, opening the mind, and expressing oneself.
Yes, I feel so happy when I play instruments, unfortunately I rarely get to play. I played Alto Saxophone for a few years, recorder in elementary school xD and we're playing keyboard in music class this year, it's actually really fun.
I got JR. drumset when I was 9.Never really got fully into it I guess. That and I broke it trying to teach myself to play a song :P.Now I wanna play either the trumpet, saxophone,or the Viola :P
...
JK I actually taught myself how to play Piano a few years back, It was challenging, but I got my friend Joe to teach me a few chords and scales(And Some old VideoGame Music I.e. Mario Bros.), and then I started picking it up fast.
And then I remembered my Dads old electric guitar.. hmmm.. I decided to teach myself how to play it too, I could pick up guitar easier because I could already tell what the chords were or how the notes correlated with one another already because of Piano :3.
I've been playing piano for like.. somewhere between 2-3 years, and guitar from 1-2
I'ma try to upload some audio of me playing music in my future blogs if you're interested o-o
