Ram- Before the server frenzy, I was in agreement with your last post. But now, I'm not so sure.
The woman carries and delivers the baby, and that's quite obviously no easy task. However, it's still my child as well. If your wife(assuming that you're abstaining from sex, but that's a different debate) really did, in fact, love you, then she wouldn't just go and kill your child with no looking back or feelings of remorse of any kind. She would hear you out. If she didn't, maybe you should sit down and seriously reconsider your relationship.
Pro Life for me. I have religous reasons, but this isn't a religous discussion, and posting them is probably going to bring up a lot of unessecary drama. Besides, it still seems that killing a baby is wrong.
If I were a woman in a dangerous pregnancy, I would rather die faithful to my God than have an abortion. Same for rape. I would rather have the child than cross my religion.
I'm not saying that the child shouldn't be with them. I have no problems with the homosexual couple having a child. But I would no longer allow the couple at my church. If they were a homosexual couple who were truly in love, then I would certainly welcome them into the church with open arms. If they decided what they were doing was wrong, they wouldn't be allowed to divorce anyways, as the Bible is anti-divorce. So they would be allowed to live as they were, but they wouldn't have relations and they wouldn't adopt children. If they adopted a child, then they would be disfellowshipped from the church.
"Blind-following"? I have seen in my life my proof that the Bible's standards are the best way to live than anything else. You can't begin to imagine the sad, the moving, the pitiful things I have seen in my lifetime that have moved me to make the decisions I have made. I have adopted these ideals, and they are mine. Nobody can tell me otherwise.
After rereading the beginning, I realize I was mistaken in believing this was an isolated incident. I approve of this bill. They have every right to turn people away because of this, because there is a scriptural basis to turn them away. State and Church should be kept seperate. By the way, which organization is this?
I never said their civilians. If you would take a closer look at my previous post, you would see I simply said the civilians. Expanding on that point, if American citizens stopped purchasing Mexican drugs, why would Mexicans stop? While I in no way condone drug use, I think it would be near-impossible to stop it.
I'm not saying don't voice your opinion; your opinions amuse me. I'm simply saying that in this venue, that was extremely innapropriate.
Basically I am saying we're putty in his hands, but I find his hands are about as protective as a place as you'll find. Of course lives aren't being created by God now, but where did the first lives come from? A random reaction? Again, I refer you to my amusing and intricate analogy.
I spent twenty minutes sculpting abeautiful reply to this, which was eaten by the BB.
So let me cut right to the chase of what I was saying.
A: You “know” we are created by cells? How so?
B: The Bible is 100% compatible with science. Even many scientists agree with that. If you're saying that these things were created by scientists, you are sadly mistaken. Miracles are science. Energy can be converted to matter, and matter can be converted to energy. Envision the Hiroshima bomb in your mind. Think of the size of it, less than the size of a man. Now think of all the energy it released upon explosion. Next, imagine all of the matter in the universe and how much eneergy would be released if it all exploded. That's the energy it took for Creation. And God didn't spend himself on Creation.
C: While all this "Wisdom of 'God'" was written by humans, it was inspired of God.
Imagine(Now that I'm more active on the BB's, you'll be hearing analogies with the word "imagine" in them a lot.) that you are a businessman, dictating a letter to your secretary. Who's letter is it? Your's, because you planned it out and thought it up, or the secretary's, because he/she typed it?Anyways, I realize in my previous post that I only adressed homosexuality as a whole, and not the issue at hand. So no, I don't believe they have the right to keep the child from them(unless the child's in the custody of the church, in which case I say carry on), and if they really don't approve, they should stop messing around and just expell them from the church already.
I just lost the last shred of respect I had for Ram when he said "kill all the Christians." It would be you to make a stupid statement like that.
Hey, let's kill all the atheists, derp, derp!
Religion doesn't cause wars. Bloodthirsty people cause wars. In the Bible, it states, "Those who live by the sword, die by the sword," "A slave of the lord needs not to fight," and many other anti-violence phrases. World Peace is unobtainable at the moment. Might stay that way for years. I might die before it happens, along with every user here. But God's Heavenly Kingdom will take over this sorry state of affairs. Centuries ago, Satan the Devil challenged God. He told him that man didn't need him, and would be better off without him ruling. God stepped down and let man rule for a while.
How well is that working out?
"It belongs not to Earthling man to direct his own step."
God knew from the start that humans couldn't rule themselves, but he let Satan have his turn at bat for a simple reason. There was no clear winner at the moment.
Imagine you're the world's best chess player. One day, a man comes to your house claiming he's a better chess player than you and challenges you to a chess match. You reply by whipping out a pistol and pumping six bullets into his chest. Now, are you still the world's best chess player? Yes. But people will start to doubt. "Why did he do that...?" "Was he afraid?"
Do you see what I mean?
My jaw hit the ground when I saw this. Not only are at least four members in near-complete agreement on a subject, but one of them is RAM!?
LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
Let's put a stop to that. I fail to see how this is the government trying to make money off of... people being afraid of Mexico, if that makes any sense. If the civilians are buying drugs, what does that have to do with the government? Kids these days and their conspiracy theories. Back in my day, a conspiracy was when you're grandfather was hiding the last piece of cake, and none of us were nearly foolish enough to have any theories about that.
So why would I claim to love God, and be grateful to him for all he's done for us, then turn around and slap him in the face by disobeying one of his most basic laws? It would make me a hypocrite, a jerk, and most of all, a liar.
Thanks Ram. I've been kind of depressed lately about something that happened in my life having to do with my religion. Having to explain my faith lifted me out of my funk, and made it clearer to me what I need to do.
The Ram- You certainly do digress. How did this become about the creation of the entire world from some disorganized "cellular soup"?
Imagine you just bought this beautiful house. It's in a great neighborhood filled with other luxurious homes, and cost you a pretty penny, as many other people were vying for that house. After living in the house a few days, you hear a knock on the door. Your next door neighbor, a jolly old man, has come over to welcome you to the neighborhood. You invite him in, bring him some water, and sit down for a chat. After a while, you start discussing your house.
"Did you see the architect who constructed my house?" you ask the man.
"Architect?" the man chuckles. "Here's how your house was built:
First, there was a great earthquake. Large deposits of iron ore were pushed up from underground and many trees were knocked over. The trees fell in such a way that their trunks all hit the iron ore. They splintered into two-by-fours, and all the ore was pounded into nails by the fallng trunks. Next, a great hurrican came by, striking a beach about a mile from here. It hit the sand many times with lightning, creating the perfectly square windows you see now. Last, a tornado rip through aand picked up all those supplies. They were thrown together in such a way that your house was created as you now see it."
How would you feel? Even though you can't see the architect, you know he had to exist to build something so perfect, so structurally sound. How do you think we have the Earth just the perfect distance away from the sun, so we don't freeze, but we don't burn either?
Now, back to the subject at hand. I believe that homosexuality is wrong. This is Jesus' opinion, and this is also God's opinion, but what you need to know is that it is my opinion. In the Bible it states at least in three different passages that homosexuality is wrong.
Earlier today, I picked up the viola to widen my horizons. Previously, I played clarinet, but I never really practiced or even enjoyed it too much. The viola seems like much more fun though, even in my first day. I know that everything seems fun the first time you try it, but I'm keeping my hopes up.
So do you play an instrument? If you do, do you enjoy it?
