Both of you are wrong, but Link is mostly right. The Universe has been expected to be here for 6 billion years. But it was not a hot ball. There was Singlarity, which is only possible in Quantum Physics. Many atoms in the spot where only one atom can take. Then, the wrong atom touched the wrong atom, and Le Boom! Big Bang.

If God could do anything, and if God is "good," why do people continue to get murdered, raped, and shot? If he brings balance, I haven't seen any really good things happen lately to balance out the bad. Sandy Hook. Aurora. Hurricane Sandy.

Reason 1: Because God can't do everything for us. If we have some magical being look after us ALL THE TIME, then when he tells us how to look after ourselves and such, we'll descend into anarchy.

Reason 2: We have free will. We wouldn't have a good God if all he did was bend people's minds so others can be happy.

Reason 3: Because we learn from those mistakes. After Sandy Hook, they buffed up security, so history wouldn't repeat itself. If nothing bad happens, we won't know what to do when something bad ACTUALLY HAPPENS.
