Name changes is a waste of time, unless there's a very good reason for it. You should've just registered with a name you like. If you're really 'determined' to have a 'cool' name, just make a new account.
Making a new account sounds easier than it looks. All your paintings, bulletin board posts, blogs, all gone. Or at least you're starting over. You may have the cool new username, but you'll eventually miss the content you made.
Most people here seem unaware of the fact that -for some users - actually updating all the necessary database tables to replace your old username with your new one could amount to thousands or tens of thousands of alterations across multiple tables:
Chatroom posts, tWiiter, HB Online, User table, Profile, Profile comments, Blogs, Blog Comments, Forum threads, Forum posts, Paintings, Polls, Poll votes, Photos, Photo Albumns, Photo Albumn comments, Sprites, Game highscores, OverlorDS, Groups, Group Shouts, Group Requests, (eventually) TMJ, TMJ Items.
That's not a set of SQL queries HullBreach is going to want to be running often, which is why it is and should be left to him.
Oh no, people would start annoying admins with username changes, and they'll end up being squished by the ban hammer.Unless it were to get extreme, I think a ban for begging for a name change would be a little extreme. You don't see people on the ban list for a reason like "no begging for admin."
Username changes are pointless. Sorry but if you did not want your username, you should have not named yourself that in the first place.
If you are complaining you "Need a fresh start" maybe you should not have done what you did to make you want that "Fresh start"

Actually it is easier than that. Me and HullBreach both store user content in the database under member ID's. So when someone gets a name change, all previous content such as blogs, forums, etc, are updated on the spot. There are no special queries, and no manual updating. Because the ID is saved, the database takes the ID of, say, an author of a blog, and retrieves the current username.
Hello,
I have recently created an account here at DSiPaint.com and I would like to request a name-change. You see, The name I selected is "Shrekt" with a k, however this was completely a mistake. I wanted to be named "Shret", after the famous ogre from the Dreamworks Animation feature picture "Shret". Since I have just created my account, and my name is a result of a typo, would it be possible to have an admin contact me regarding a name change?
Thank you.
