We have the three existing language chatrooms because they are the three most common languages, other than English, used on this website. And even then, they are scarcely used. Mandarin, Korean, etc. simply are not used commonly. Furthermore, there's no direct way to type the special characters on a DSi/Wii.
Yes well I have many friends who speak these languages and simply more people are interested in manga. It would be fun to be able to do so without getting banned.
@KingofDarkness Yes, but it is obviously not the primary language for this website.
@HullBreach So the three language chatrooms would be combined into a universal "Language" room for anything except English. Saves space, but makes chatting potentially very confusing. And I never see every regular chatroom occupied at once, so I don't know if more are needed.
Maybe if you could make a way for only chat admins to make their own chatrooms and people can only go in them when that chatmin is in them. meh just another idea
I'm not saying you're fat... but if i had to choose the 5 fattest people i know, you'd be 3 of them.
I really think the number of chatrooms is fine where it is right now.
What's being proposed is more language chatrooms (more specifically along the lines of Mandarin/Japanese/Russian, but their characters/alphabets obviously cannot be accessed efficiently). The language chatrooms right now already have the problem of users who know none/little of the designated language, but chat there anyway. Possible chats for languages using mainly the Latin alphabet such as Dutch/Portuguese/Swedish would be rarely used, even with SDK's growing membership. Not to mention it would make life harder for the chat mods.
If the language chatrooms were instead merged into one, the problems could potentially be worse. What comes to mind is multiple languages being used--thus producing confusion (as stated), the fact that users who enter the chatroom won't be able to reliably find other users who can speak that same language, and as a possible result, multi-lingual chat spilling into the regular chatrooms.
("Private" chatrooms are a whole different issue.)
